On August 16, the natural gas ethane recovery project of Tarim Oilfield, a key project of PetroChina, was successfully completed and put into operation, and qualified ethane products were produced. It is reported that the project is the first ethane recovery project successfully put into operation in Xinjiang. Tarim Oilfield natural gas ethane recovery project is located in Lunnan Industrial Park, Luntai County, Bazhou, Xinjiang, covering an area of 320 mu with a total investment of 1.62 billion yuan. Relying on the rich natural gas resources in Tarim, the project adopts the internationally advanced and domestic leading "propane precooling + expansion refrigeration + double reflux" process technology to process 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. It is one of the largest ethane recovery units in a single row in China. After nearly a month of commissioning, the unit has passed the performance assessment, achieved up to standard and capacity, and all parameters and indexes meet the design requirements. Ethane is an important raw material for manufacturing ethylene, and ethylene is one of the largest chemical products in the world. Ethylene industry is the core of petrochemical industry and plays an important role in the national economy. The natural gas ethane recovery project of Tarim Oilfield is a political project for PetroChina to implement the party's strategy of governing Xinjiang in the new era and the spirit of previous central Xinjiang work symposiums and promote industrial assistance to Xinjiang. It is also a benefit project for PetroChina to improve quality and efficiency, an innovative project to realize scientific and technological self-reliance, and it is also an innovative project for stable production and production of Tarim Oilfield Key projects to comprehensively promote the construction of world-class modern large oil and gas fields. The ethane recovery project was started on March 14, 2020, delivered as a whole on May 28, 2021, the gas introduction was put into operation on July 16, the expander was put into operation on July 20, and the qualified ethane products were produced on July 23, 8 days ahead of the original plan. During the construction process, the project has experienced two outbreaks. Faced with problems such as limited material transportation, difficult personnel flow and difficult construction in winter, Tarim Oilfield has ensured the correct combination of light hydrocarbon production and project construction with a high sense of dedication and responsibility. In the whole construction process, safety and environmental protection were controlled and the expected objectives were successfully achieved. It is reported that the completion and operation of the project can achieve an annual treatment of 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas, with an annual output of 762000 tons of ethane, 366000 tons of liquefied gas and 75000 tons of stable light hydrocarbons. At the same time, the completion and operation of the project broke through the "neck" restriction of ethane raw materials and production technology, provided sufficient and stable ethane raw materials for Dushanzi petrochemical, and provided a strong guarantee for the upgrading of the industrial chain of PetroChina enterprises in Xinjiang.
